Parenthood

Every Tuesday night at 9pm, I sit down to watch "Parenthood". I cannot get enough of this show and for me, it rings a little parenting bell in my heart. In some T.V. shows, you just shake your head because hello, stuff like that never happens. But with this show....every week I find myself hoping I never have to go through this, or wow, maybe that's what it'll be like when he's a teenager. I just love it, love it, love it. So, if you haven't watched it, you should.

Become obsessed like me: clicky.

But before all that, I had an excellent day with my bestie. We've been planning to go to the zoo for the past 2 days and it just hasn't worked out. Today, we got there and the zoo was closing. So, yea. We decided to go to the park and feed the duckies! And let me tell ya...I've always known that geese are particularly douchey, but today, a goose, hissed at me. HISSED AT ME! I didn't even know they could do that. It was pretty frightening, but I just scared him back into the water with the stroller. (He came back around later and tried to bite me. I think that was his revenge. We later made frienemies.)

We ran out of leftovers from lunch and goldfish and cheerios, so I ran to Food City (I think that was scarier than getting hissed at by a goose...) and got, get this, 4 loaves of bread! Those ducks better feel special. It was so much fun though! We all could have just sat there all day feeding those crazy things.

After the ducks, we went to the playground and the kiddos had a freakin' blasty blast. (whenever I say that, I wanna listen to Dane Cook. Just FYI.) I did have a few mini heart attacks though. Both Ashlyn and Jordan love slides. I found a little double slide and they had fun with that one for a while. Then I found a bigger one and took them there. I sat them both up there and slid down, I turned around and Ashlyn was already sliding down! WHOMP. Face first into the ground. I hate when she gets hurt. It makes me feel so awful.
To top that all off, I made a picture. Arrow one is where I put them to slide and where Ashlyn torpedoed herself from. Arrow two is where Jordan climbed to while I was calming Ashlyn. Arrow three is the route I took in about 5 seconds to make sure Jordan didn't go down the crazy 3 story slide. Ugh. I felt like an awful Mommy. But, I'm fine now.

Anyway, it was an amazing day and I'm thankful the zoo was closed!

16 months.

My baby baby baby is 16 months old already. Pretty soon, he'll be 2. And I have to tell you, that freaks me out a little bit. Sometimes the days go by so slooooooooooooooooooowly, but when I look back and think about it, it doesn't seem like that long ago that I was in labor.
I don't know why time has to speed up so much after you have a little one. I vote that it should slow down a little bit so you have some time to enjoy all the stages!

Anyway, he's too smart for his britches. He can now pick up toys on his own when he's told (but more often than not, he chooses to ignore the request...) He spins in circles when you ask him to! It's a great source of amusement to me :) He knows what sounds a dog, cat, duck, horse, pig, chicken, cow and bird make if you show him a picture. Oh. One more really fun thing? He's learned how to say NO. But not just "no". I apparently shake my finger at him when I tell him no, because he picked that up. It's really cute, but I don't foresee the cuteness lasting very long with this particular trick.

He also likes to lay on Ashlyn's tummy. But not before tackling her down, which makes her cry. He likes to pinch and pull at your face skin too. Oye. Despite all that, he can also be super sweet. He loves giving hugs and kisses and high fives!

Height: Didn't measure him today, but maybe tomorrow...
